Frequently Asked Questions

Does my Dog need a collar ID tag?

Yes all dogs must wear a tag with your name and address on it.

How many dogs are in a group walk?

No more than 5 dogs will be in a group session to ensure I can provide them all with adequate attention but that they are also being socialised safely.

Will you walk my dog in all weather conditions?

Yes. I will walk your dog in all weathers and will towel them off when I bring them home after a rainy walk, you can also arrange a certain room with me that you would want them to be left in should they get wet or muddy.

If I believe the weather to be too dangerous I will contact you to arrange a refund or to arrange a home visit to let your dog out in their garden instead. In the hot weather plenty of water will be provided however, I may cut the walks down to 30mins or change to a home visit to avoid heatstroke and burnt paws.

Do I need to be home when you pick up my dog?

No. As long as you have provided me with a key so I can pick up and drop off your dog.

Do you let the dogs off lead?

Yes as the filed is fully secure so no matter their recall they can play off lead.

Will my dog be supervised at all times?

Yes. During our dog session I will be with your dog at all times.

I only require occasional walks not every day/week can you help?

Yes I am happy to provide services to suit your requirements provided I have availability. I recommend you give me as much notice as possible. Contact me to discuss.

What if something happens to my dog on a walk, such as gets injured or runs away?

I am fully insured with PetPlan. However, I cannot be held responsible for any loss or injury to a pet whilst in my care, unless proven to be negligent at the time of incident. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their dog is adequately insured to cover any emergency treatment. I will always do my utmost to care for your dog in all situations. Also, I always carry a first aid kit and can apply basic first aid.

What do you do with my key?

I can either retain your house keys on file or you can have them returned, simply arrange with me during the induction visit. I take your security seriously. Keys are held in a safe. Addresses or contact details are never attached to the keys and are kept separately. If you choose to leave your keys with me, I can be just a telephone call away in an emergency situation, if you lose your keys, have them stolen or lock yourself out you can call me to collect your key. If you are delayed getting home with heavy traffic or be unexpectedly called away, I can help out with your dog.

Are you insured?

Yes. I have full insurance through PetPlan. I chose PetPlan as my dog is insured with them and I have always found them helpful, reliable and great to deal with.

How do I pay for your services?

I accept either cash or you can set up a direct debit. You can leave the payment in a safe place for collection of the first day of service.

Is there a cancellation fee?

If you cancel within 24 hours of your booking then I will charge you for the appointment missed. However, please try to give as much notice as possible should you no long require a pre-booked service to ensure there is no charge.

Do your services cater for all dog breeds?

I take each dog on its own merit and not on reputation of particular breeds. I meet all dogs before I walk them and each new dog is subject to a trial period. Any instances of aggressive behaviour will be investigated and I reserve the right to refuse to walk any dog.
